1902-1904 Raphaël BLANCHARD (Président fondateur)
Né à Saint-Christophe (Indre-et-Loire) le 28 février 1857. Mort à Paris le 7 février 1919. Docteur en médecine, licencié es sciences. Nommé en 1897 professeur à la chaire d'histoire naturelle de la Faculté de médecine de Paris, il en obtint la transformation en chaire de parasitologie. Il crée en 1898 les « Archives de parasitologie »et fonde l'Institut de médecine coloniale en 1902. Elu membre de l'Académie de médecine (section de thérapeutique) le 13 février 1894, secrétaire annuel de 1912 a 1919.

Raphaël Blanchard,founder of the French Society of Medical History in 1902, was one of the first to carry on research in human parasitology. He was elected member of the National Academy ofMedicine in 1894. As a professor of parasitology at the School 0f Medicine in Paris, he gaves the best of himself with an original and huge work to the development 0f pathological geography. He described the transformation and propagation of numerous human parasites at a time when very little had been done in thisfleld. He revealed the importance of the inferior organisms in human pathology, indicating the prophylaxis to be used in tropical diseases.
Well known as a learned and art lover, he published a great number of articles in various reviews which concerned this particular discipline.
